My approach to craftsmanship began seven years ago, almost as a game, during a six-month trip to

South America. My first materials were waxed thread and macramé. From the beginning, it was very

clear to me that I wanted to be as eco-friendly as possible, and I immediately chose not to set stones

(which are unethical, especially due to the extraction process), but to use wooden blocks recovered from

a carpenter’s scraps. Later, I spent a lot of time in a workshop where they make tambourines, and

surrounded by all these materials, I began to develop my first ideas for jewelry with these materials. The

main materials I use are wood and brass. I also make stamps from wood that I use to print cashmere

and viscose scarves. For woodworking, I use all types of carpentry tools, including a lathe. For

metalwork, I use silver soldering, fretwork, and chasing techniques. This year, I was invited as a circular

economy expert to participate in a festival in Tunisia, in the Semmama mountains, where I also learned

about sheepskin and alpha, a plant-based material similar to wicker. For five years, I’ve been working

with my jewelry at the “La Notte della Taranta” festival, and I’ve just started a collaboration with the FAI

of Matera to supply scarves and jewelry.
